THE CHAPTER “CHRISTIAN SCIENCE PRACTICE” IN SCIENCE AND HEALTH

1. right understanding of Him

2. exchange the pleasures and pains of sense for the joys of Soul.

3. dispute the testimony of the material senses with divine Science.

4. destroy the false process of mortal opinions

5. Suffer no claim of sin or of sickness to grow upon the thought.

6. Dismiss it with an abiding conviction that it is illegitimate,

7. know that God is no more the author of sickness than He is of sin.

8. "Agree to disagree" with approaching symptoms of chronic or acute disease,

9. Meet the incipient stages of disease with as powerful mental opposition as a legislator

10. Rise in the conscious strength of the spirit of Truth

11. overthrow the plea of mortal mind, alias matter, arrayed against the supremacy of Spirit.

12. Blot out the images of mortal thought and its beliefs in sickness and sin.

13. rise in rebellion

14. Banish the belief that you can possibly entertain a single intruding pain

15. prevent the development of pain in the body.

16. never plead guilty.

17. make your own terms with sickness,

18. and be just to yourself and to others.

19. every broken moral law should be taken into account

20. error be rebuked

21. Fear, which is an element of all disease, must be cast out

22. readjust the balance for God

23. Casting out evil and fear

24. outweigh error.

25. take antagonistic grounds against all that is opposed to the health, holiness, and harmony of man, Gods image.

26. The physical affirmation of disease should always be met with the mental negation.

27. Reverse the case.

28. Stand porter at the door of thought.

29. control yourself harmoniously.

30. perform your office as porter and shut out these unhealthy thoughts and fears.

31. Exclude from mortal mind the offending errors;

32. Exercise this God-given authority.

33. Take possession of your body,

34. govern its feeling and action.

35. Rise in the strength of Spirit

36. resist all that is unlike good

37. Be firm in your understanding that the divine Mind governs,

38. Have no fear that matter can ache, swell, and be inflamed as the result of a law of any kind,

39. be calm in sickness;

40. be hopeful

40. understand that sickness is not real

42. and that Truth can destroy its seeming reality,

43. speak to disease as one having authority over it,

44. never hold in mind the thought of disease,

45. efface from thought all forms and bills of disease,

46. Avoid talking illness to the patient.

47. Make no unnecessary inquiries relative to feelings or disease.

48. Never startle with a discouraging remark about recovery,

49. nor draw attention to certain symptoms as unfavorable,

50. avoid speaking aloud the name of the disease.

51. Never say beforehand how much you have to contend with in a case, nor encourage in the patients thought the expectation of growing worse before a crisis is passed

52. explain to the sick the power which their beliefs exercise over their bodies.

53. Give them divine and wholesome understanding, with which to combat their erroneous sense, and so efface the images of sickness from mortal mind

54. Keep distinctly in thought that man is the offspring of God, not of man; that man is spiritual, not material; that Soul is Spirit,

55. reverse the process.

56. Declare that you are not hurt

57. understand the reason why,

58. be familiar with the great verities of being

59. Give up the belief that mind is, even temporarily, compressed within the skull,

60. understand yourself
